The Chamber Sponsors Its First-Ever Trip Abroad – Prague, Vienna, & Budapest

The Chamber is happy to announce an exciting new program that provides a very special travel opportunity to the local community.

For many years, chambers of commerce across the country have served as host sponsors of trips to locations both in the United States and abroad. The Jefferson County Chamber’s inaugural trip will take place June 19th-29th, 2017.  “Imperial Cities” will feature stops in Prague, Vienna and Budapest.  The 11-day package includes 14 meals, airfare, lodging and transfers.  Collette Travel, a well-known name in the group travel industry since 1918, is the co-sponsor of the trip.

Mark your calendar now for November 1st at 6 p.m. when Collette travel will provide a comprehensive overview and presentation outlining the trip details with plenty of time for questions and answers. It will be held at the Chamber offices, 630 Market Street in Steubenville.  There is no obligation or charge to attend and this gathering, as well as the trip, are open to the general public.  Please call the Chamber if you would like to receive the full color trip brochure and outline or click on the link below to go directly to the website for the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce 2017 trip abroad.

“On Location” 2016 Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a movie or television show filmed in our community?  Or what it’s like to be an extra in a motion picture?  Did you know that many local people have played an important role in the television and movie industry throughout the years?

The theme for this year’s annual meeting and awards dinner will be, “On Location,” with Mr. Ivan Schwarz, Executive Director of the Cleveland Film Commission as the keynote speaker. Mr. Schwarz was a driving force behind the recent increase in the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit passed by Governor Kasich.  The revision doubles the current $20 million cap on annual incentives and will be key in making Ohio more competitive in media production which brings jobs and money to the state.  The Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit has created the equivalent of 1,729 full-time jobs and over $400 million in total economic impact since 2011.

Please join us on Wednesday, October 19th at St. Florian Hall for an exciting night of presentations and information as we celebrate the Chamber, its accomplishments, its volunteers and the winners in our five business categories.  Nominations will begin next week with online submission forms available on the Chamber website. And watch your mail and email for sponsorship and ticket information.

Jefferson County Chamber Of Commerce Kicks Off Its Summer, “That’s The Ticket” Giveaway

Celebrate All There Is To Do In & Around Jefferson County! The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is pulling out all the stops with a new giveaway that’s designed to celebrate the many things to do in and around Jefferson County.  The July, “That’s The Ticket” prize package includes over $2,500 in tickets to events ranging from the Jefferson County Fair and Pittsburgh Steelers games to the Post-Gazette Amphitheatre and local favorites like the United Way’s, “Taste Of The County.”  The drawing is open to the public and for just $10 per entry, someone gets the chance to be the sole winner of the entire list of prizes.

“We are trying to accomplish a few things with this fundraiser,” Chamber President, Tricia Maple, explained.  “We want to negate the old, “there’s nothing to do” comment that you hear so often and also showcase what a great area we live in for entertainment options.  One of the best things about our area is that you get the best of both worlds when you live here – the comfort, affordability and intimacy of small town living with amazing entertainment, sports-related and cultural events within a short drive in any direction.”

Another goal of this project is to drive traffic to the Chamber’s website, www.jeffersoncountychamber.com, which has been a work in progress for the past year and a half.  The website is a great resource for anyone in business, thinking of starting a business or planning to visit or relocate to Jefferson County. One of its primary goals is to promote the over 450 Chamber member businesses through the online membership directory which allows visitors to the site to search for a member business by name or by category.

The drawing will run the entire month of July with entries available via the website and also at the Chamber offices located at 630 Market Street in downtown Steubenville.  The winner will be drawn on August 1st.  For a complete list of prizes, visit the Chamber website and click on the, “That’s the Ticket” ad in the center of the home page.  From there you may enter the drawing and/or view and print the prize list.  For more information, contact the Chamber offices at 740.282.6226.

The Chamber would like to thank the following member businesses and organizations who donated or sponsored items in the prize package:  The Jefferson County Fair Board, Historic Fort Steuben, Valley Hospice, Inc., United Way of Jefferson County, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Jefferson County, The Fort Steuben Mall, Piergallini Catering, The Herald Star & Weirton Daily Times, New York Life/John Cucarese, The Ville Restaurant & Bar, The UPS Store – Steubenville and Advanced Entertainment Limousine.

Headshot Happy Hour

A new Chamber member program is launched –

Having a high quality, current head shot is a necessity in business. Regardless of your title or what it is you’re selling, the first impression that a prospective customer or client gets is often based on an image of you.  Whether it’s by way of viewing your company website, seeing your picture in the local newspaper, picking up one of your business cards or any other marketing medium that has your photograph on it, your picture can make or break that first impression.  Many small business owners make the mistake of using an old, unprofessional or shabbily edited photo for business purposes and put off getting the proper one taken.

Three Chamber member photographers have stepped up to the plate to help the Chamber launch a new program called, “Head Shot Happy Hour.” The goal is to make it easy, affordable and convenient for our members to get a great head shot taken for themselves, their staff, their board members or their sales team.  Here’s how it works: On three Thursdays in the coming weeks, the photographers will set up shop in the Chamber offices from 3 to 6 p.m.  You may make an appointment with any one you wish by calling the Chamber offices. Bookings are first-come, first-served so don’t delay.  You may also check out each of their websites by clicking on the links below.  The price is just $50 per person. You will pay that evening and will be provided with your photos on a disc or by way of a link.   Each photographer is a little different so feel free to contact them with questions. In addition, the Chamber will provide light refreshments for you to enjoy while you wait or after your photo session is over.

Why not check this one off of your “to do” list once and for all and get a quality, professional head shot that you can use for all of your promotional and advertising needs?  Hope to see you at thefirst (to be annual), “Head Shot Happy Hour.”  And thank you again to our participating photographers:

2016 Annual Golf Classic Just Around The Corner

It’s an event that dates back at least 30 years.  It’s one of the Chamber’s biggest fundraisers and one of most well-attended events.  The Annual Golf Classic is a tradition that brings together golfers, volunteers, staff and Chamber members and their employees each spring for a day of food, drink and friendly competition.
The golf outing committee meets early in the year and often to ensure that this event runs smoothly and never gets stale.  John Cucarese, from New York Life, will serve as event chair once again this year and many of our long-time sponsors are already on board.  Last year, over 175 were in attendance including those who played, volunteered, came for dinner and prizes or just stopped by to say hello.  The date for this year’s outing is Tuesday, May 10th and we’ll once again be at the Steubenville Country Club.  Registration begins at 8:30 with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
If you’ve never been involved with this event, this is the year to change that.  There are creative and fun sponsorships available and volunteer opportunities that allow you and your employees to engage with fellow members and network with the local business community.  If you’re a golfer, you’ll enjoy a beautiful and challenging course and for non-golfers, there’s plenty to enjoy as well.  All-day beverages, steak dinner with all the trimmings and lots of great prizes.  Watch your mail, email and the Chamber website as details are confirmed.
Eager to register your team?  Click on the golf outing in the scrolling events on the right of our home page or here to download a printable registration form.
