Home-Based Business Committee Off To A Great Start

The first meeting of the Chamber’s new Home-Based/Direct Sales Committee was held on March 4th at the Chamber offices. To be eligible for this committee, your business must have an “individual to individual” sales platform, provide retail products or services and be home-based, with no storefront location.

The first event sponsored by the committee will be a “Table Top Boutique” held in conjunction with the May First Friday event at Le Chateau Pier in Smithfield. Vendors will be provided with a 6′ table and there’s no charge to participate. An application is required along with a commitment to attend so that all businesses advertised are there that evening. First Friday

First Friday Returns in March!

Join us next Friday, March 6th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sumo Hibachi & Sushi for the first “First Friday” of 2020. Sumo is located at 4170 Sunset Blvd. in Steubenville. Stop by for a quick drink, bring your co-workers for some great appetizers, or meet your family and stay for dinner.

The Chamber’s First Friday program began in 2017 as a movement to support our local restaurants and pubs on the first Friday of each month. There is no charge to attend, no reservation required, and no set program or speaker. It’s just a fun, casual way to end the week, once a month, by gathering with fellow Chamber members for an after-work drink, appetizer, or dinner. We’ll have some fun door prizes and giveaways so mark your calendars now. See you next Friday at Sumo.

Chamber Ambassadors

The Chamber Ambassadors: Working To Make Our Organization Stronger & Better

The Chamber Ambassadors are the volunteer arm of the Chamber, assisting with member engagement, special events and fundraising. The group was formed nearly 30 years ago under then Chamber president, Curt Klein. It began hosting an annual Burger Bash nearly 10 years ago and this event has grown into a summertime tradition and a favorite of many Chamber members. A portion of the proceeds from the Burger Bash fund the annual Anita Jackson Community Scholarship. Anita was a founding member of the Ambassador group and a long-time Franciscan University employee. Retired educator, Patricia Fletcher, is another founding Ambassador who still serves today. The Chamber would like to recognize this important group for their hard work and dedication to the local business community.

Workforce Training & Education Survey

The Chamber’s Workforce Training & Education Committee has brought together business leaders, employers, educators and local employment-related organizations in an effort to address two very important issues. First, our county’s ability to provide a skilled, quality workforce for existing and prospective employers. And second, to ensure that our local schools are providing information, training and guidance so that students learn about job opportunities and know what they must do in order to become gainfully employed. From soft skills to industry specific training, we must work together on workforce development to grow and improve as a community.

Investor to Investor Trade Fair

Great Night at our Annual Investor to Investor Trade Fair

It was a great night of networking, music, and food at St. Florian Event Center as the Chamber hosted its annual Investor To Investor Trade Fair on Wednesday evening.

A great big CONGRATS to Luscious Lippies Cosmetics for winning the amazing media and marketing package. This locally owned business, located in the Fort Steuben Mall, is one of our newest Chamber members. What a welcome! Nearly $6000 in advertising and promotions generously donated by fellow members of the Chamber.
