Annual Golf Classic

Time is Running Out to Participate in the 2019 Golf Classic

On Tuesday, May 21st, Steubenville Country Club will serve as the setting for the Chamber’s biggest fundraiser of the year, its annual Golf Classic. Trinity Health System is once again on board as the title sponsor with many other chamber member businesses serving as co-sponsors as well.

Over 200 golfers, volunteers and dinner guests are expected this year for a full day of competition, food, drink and amazing door prizes. There are just a handful of team slots still available so please contact the Chamber offices at 740.282.6226 or email Cassie Balvin, Administrative & Accounting Coordinator at cbalvin@jeffersoncountychamber.com for details or to register. This year’s team price is $500 which includes a foursome, carts, all-day beverages and a complete steak dinner.

Roundtable

Important Business Roundtable Focuses on Education and Workforce Training

The Chamber is pleased to be co-hosting an important roundtable event on Tuesday, May 7th at the Eastern Gateway Community College Pugliese Center from 8 to 10 a.m.

Eastern Gateway Community College ‘s Tech Prep director, Melanie DiCarlo, spearheaded the event in recognition of Ohio’s “In-Demand Jobs Week,” a statewide celebration of industry, in-demand jobs, workforce training and skill development. This year’s dates are May 6th through 10th. Also involved in the event is Franciscan University of Steubenville , the local Ohio Means Jobs office and the Jefferson County Educational Service Center . The purpose of this event is to bring together educators and businesses in order to encourage a better, stronger relationship between the two that will lead to strategies and programming, county-wide that provide quality employees for existing and new businesses. All local businesses are encouraged to attend.

“I’m excited to be a part of this event, chamber president, Tricia Maple commented. “And it ties in perfectly with what the chamber is trying to make one of its top priorities – working to ensure that Jefferson County is able to provide quality skilled employees for our existing businesses and for prospective businesses. It’s a huge part of ensuring that we are as business friendly as possible.”

The chamber has also recently created an Education & Workforce Training Committee and in May will kick off a comprehensive “Business Friendly” project which will be begin with a county-wide survey of existing businesses and others involved in new business development.

On Monday, April 29th, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with The  Ohio Oil & Gas Association , will host a panel discussion and luncheon focusing on the oil and gas industry in Jefferson County. Sponsored by  Ascent Resources, LLC and Encino Energy, LLC , the presentation will cover many topics including the state of the industry in and around Jefferson County, permits, production, pipelines, infrastructure investment and more.
